It is a steel and concrete corridor that will run right through the Old Pueblo, connecting Mexico City to Edmonton, Alberta.
Its purpose is to facilitate trade among the three countries and minimize traffic and congestion for residents.
Or is it evidence of a move afoot to intertwine the three North American countries and blur the lines of sovereignty?
That’s a matter of opinion.
The title refers to the I-69/Trans-Texas Corridor (TTC) portion of the North American SuperCorridor Coalition (NASCO) project. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announced that, for now at least, it nixed this part of the $184 billion scheme calling for:
– a 4000 mile toll road network of transportation corridors;
– 10 lanes or 1200 feet wide;
Portions of the Civil Assistance Plan (CAP) signed by the U.S.-Canadian military in mid-February were just recently posted on the U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM) and Canada Command websites. The plan would allow for military from one nation to support the armed forces of the other nation during a civil emergency, including one that does not involve a cross-border crisis. Some fear that this agreement could lead to foreign troops being used for gun confiscation and marital law. CAP, along with the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP), are further advancing the merging of U.S.-Canadian military command structures and represent steps towards a North American Union.
The U.S. Congress recently approved Plan Mexico, also known as the Mérida Initiative, dealing a potentially deadly blow to Mexican activists and indigenous communities. If signed into law, Plan Mexico would provide resources, equipment, and training to the Mexican government, police, and military. President Bush’s original proposal requested $1.4 billion over a period of three years. However, Tim Rieser, aide to Sen. Patrick Leahy, says that three years won’t be enough, confirming what many activists suspected: Plan Mexico, like the War on Drugs, is designed to continue indefinitely.

Because of the recent surge in violence, Newsweek interviewed “Roberto” (not his real name), an American living in San Diego, to recount his story while he was visiting family in Tijuana in the summer of 2005. “[A] group of approximately 20 masked [and armed] men burst in suddenly” in the home, claiming to be Mexican police. Grabbing “Roberto as well as another family member and a close friend,” they were blindfolded, tied up and thrown into a car, which sped away:

Write a letter to your MP and MLA demanding that CAIRS be re-established. It cost $50,000 a year to operate, a small price to pay for government transparency. It provides invaluable information to organizations and researchers allowing them to see what the government has been doing behind closed doors.
The besieged Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) of North America received a renewed commitment from all three NAFTA leaders at the recent summit in New Orleans. This is a much needed boast for the North American Union agenda that is seen as widely unpopular. There is little doubt that big business is a driving force behind deeper continental integration. The latest SPP Summit reaffirmed that corporate interests will continue to further dominate this process. The corporate agenda is shaping policy, and as their profits increase, they gain more control over our lives.
Saving polar bears, an excuse to grab control of economic liberty.
There’s no documented, let alone alarming loss of lovable, fuzzy polar bears. But freedom-loving Americans ought to be alarmed at what’s proposed under the guise of saving the furry critters.
The federal government is considering designating polar bears as an endangered species, a leap in logic in light of the confusion about whether their numbers are increasing or decreasing.
